1. Creativity and Innovation
Students demonstrate creative thinking, construct
knowledge, and develop innovative products and

b. Create original works as a means of personal
or group expression
  • After reading a wide variety of grade-appropriate poetry, students will create their own origional poetry works.
  • Research different poets with different styles and rhyming schemes. Have students choose 3 different poets and construct 3 different poems that follow each specific poet's writing style.
  • Students come up with their own origional poems. Each of the 3 poems must follow the same writing style as the poet chosen. Each student must turn in their 3 origional poems as well as 3 poems by the 3 poets chosen.
  • Show students the website provided. Have them do the same thing that was assigned to the bhutan people. Have students turn their wishes and happiness thoughts into poetry. They can mold their wishes and happiness to fit the writing style of their chosen poets.
  • Keep a journal each day describing why they are happy today. Why they are happier than they were yesterday. What they can do today or tomorrow to ensure that their happiness increases. Teacher can read journals.
